James Maury "Jim" Henson (September 24, 1936 – May 16, 1990) was an American puppeteer best known as the creator of The Muppets. As a puppeteer, Henson performed in various television programs, such as Sesame Street and The Muppet Show, films such as The Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper, and creator of advanced puppets for projects like Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. He was also an Oscar-nominated film director, Emmy Award-winning television producer, and the founder of The Jim Henson Company, the Jim Henson Foundation, and Jim Henson's Creature Shop. He died of Streptococcus pyogenes on May 16, 1990. Henson, who was born in Mississippi, and educated at University of Maryland, College Park, was one of the most widely known puppeteers in history.[1] He created Sam and Friends as a freshman in College Park. After suffering struggles with programs that he created, he eventually was selected to participate in Sesame Street. During this time, he also participated in the comedy series Saturday Night Live. The success of Sesame Street spawned The Muppet Show, which featured Muppets created by Henson. He also co-created with Michael Jacobs the television show Dinosaurs during his final years. In 1992, he posthumously received the Courage of Conscience Award from The Peace Abbey, and on June 16, 2011, he posthumously received the Disney Legends Award.

Apple’s iOS App Store sees more than 5 million games downloaded per day as iPhone and iPad users look to fill their devices with gaming goodies, new figures have revealed.

Having recently received an award from the Guinness Book of World Records for having the ‘largest downloadable video game store’ in history, Apple is now reported to be totting up more than 5 million gaming app downloads per day across the US and EU market.

Compiled by Distimo and Newzoo, the new figures have revealed that of the 5 million daily downloads, 88 per cent of these gaming apps are in the form of free-to-download content with just 12 per cent being paid for.

Further revelations from the compiled data showed that 90 per cent of the gaming downloads are made by iPhone touting iOS users, 9 per cent coming from iPad owners and a single per cent in the form of Mac App downloads.

Apple to launch low-priced iPhone for $350, iPhone 4S/5 at end of summer!!!

According to source, Apple will indeed be launching a prepaid / lower cost iPhone this year. We are told the handset will retail for no more than $350 without contract.  It’s entirely possible that the low-cost iPhone will in fact be the iPhone 3GS. We reported that we were able to independently confirm that the iPhone 5 featured a radical new design, however this source of ours isn’t quite sure that will be the next iPhone. Whether it’s the iPhone 4S or 5, it will be coming out or “at least announced by the end of Summer, late August.”

They theorized that we’d have seen new 3rd party cases by now if the upcoming iPhone featured a different exterior, though Apple has surely been cracking down on their case specification leaks. If this turns out to be true, it will mean there would be an iPhone 4S in addition to the prepaid iPhone 3GS available within the next month to two.

In addition to that news, we are told that Apple will continue to sell the current iPhone 4 as well, finally giving the company a full range of devices in the lower, mid, and high-end price segments. Coupled with rumored launches on Sprint and T-Mobile in the U.S. alone, Apple seems prepared to once again take charge and lead in the smartphone market.

Apple suppliers cranking out 150,000 iPhone 5 units per day (BLOG)

Apple has yet to confirm a single detail about its next-generation iPhone, but reports out of Taiwan suggest the company believes it’s going to be a hit.

According to Apple supply chain sources, production of Apple’s so-called iPhone 5 at Foxconn Electronics plants have ramped up to about 150,000 units per day, reports DigiTimes. In addition, lens maker Largan Precision, touch-screen maker TPK Holding, glass supplier G-Tech Optoelectronics and battery suppliers Simplo and Dynapack are all currently operating at maximum capacity, the sources said.

With this level of production, iPhone 5 shipments are expected to reach between 5 million and 6 million in September, which equals out to more than 22 million units for the fourth quarter of this year. Shipments of iPhone 4 (both GSM and CDMA versions) will drop to make room for iPhone 5.

Of course, it is still not known when Apple plans to announce the iPhone 5, let alone when anxious customers will be able to get their hands on one. General consensus of the iPhone 5 rumor mill is that the next-generation Apple handset will launch sometime in October, though

A Larger 4-inch Screen: The desire for a larger-screened iPhone 5 started as early as the summer of 2010, when iPhone 4 users looked at their screens, then looked at some of the big Droid slabs, and started to covet a larger touch surface and viewing area. Zachary David Alexander "Zac" Efron born October 18, 1987 is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Efron was born in San Luis Obispo, California, and later moved to Arroyo Grande, California. His father, David Efron, is an engineer at a power plant, and his mother, Starla Baskett, is a former secretary who worked at the same power plant. Zac Efron has a younger brother, Dylan, and had a self-described "normal childhood" in a middle class family. He is an agnostic, having never been religious. His surname, "Efron", means "lark" in Hebrew (his paternal grandfather was Jewish).
